Sondami II-IV sa preskúmal úsek hradbového múru medzi baštami 13 a 14. stor.) a ojedinelý bol praveký objekt (ohnisko) dochovaný tesne nad úrovňou podložia. Zriedkavo sa dochovali vrstvy z obdobia počiatkov hradu (13./14. V uvedenom priestore prevažovali vrstvy z konca stredoveku a novoveku. Sondážne (sondy I, V a VI) a neskôr plošným odkryvom sa tu identifikovali zvyšky tohto prepojenia vrátane vstupu so schodiskom vysekaným do andezitového podložia. After its sacking castle remnants were furthermore damaged as its masonry was reused for building purposes in the nearby village. Destruction layers found in the interior of the tower as well as numerous finds of militaria confirm the sacking and abandonment of the castle around the half of the 16th century. Those were probably built in the late 14th/early 15th century and ceased to serve its purpose during the later 15th or more probably during the first decades of the 16th century. Hitherto unknown structures were partially excavated at the castle yard. Both tower and curtain walls undergone alterations during later existence of castle. Western tower was adjoined to them later in the same century. Results of the excavation suggest curtain walls were the oldest of the unearthed architectures being built at the beginning of the 14th century. This paper presents results of the four seasons (2012-2015) of the excavations of castle Šebeš du. Of the note is large number of sherds of fine High medieval period tableware and find of clay roof tile in the layer dated to the end of the 13 th or first half of the 14 th century. Material acquired by the excavation included medieval and modern period pottery, stove tiles, osteological material and small number of small finds made of metal, clay and glass. This can be partially attributed to the fact that layers dated to these periods were partially removed during the terrain alterations but can be also connected with historically attested decline of the town due to the Bratrik raids in the 15 th and Civil wars in the 16 th-17 th century. Number of the finds dated to the Late medieval period and Early modern period is recognizably smaller. Number of finds dated to the 14 th century demonstrates vigorous economical and building activity in the area. The earliest settlement activity in the excavated area can be attested to the end of the 13 th century.
